The Hispanic Leadership Forum was founded January 26, 2008, as leaders as leaders from over 20 Hispanic Civic and Professional organizations, as well as members of the judiciary, educators, and community activists - from retires to high school students convened to discuss the issues impacting the Hispanic community with Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins. More than 130 people were in attendance.

As the session came to a close, the atmosphere at this first gathering was electric with the hope and anticipation that the HLF will continue to move forward with this momentum towards more effective leadership within the Hispanic community. The HLF continues to work to give the Hispanic community access to local government, business, and educational leaders.

"The HLF will continue to advocate for change, for an end to economic segregation, for affordable housing, a quality education for our children, and equality in political representation. This is our vision. This is our pledge."
-Michael A. Gonzales, Chairman of the HLF
